One ball. 670 metres. A whole lot of colour.
Creative Wool Tonality from Rico is one of those wonderfully satisfying yarns where you can simply cast on, keep knitting and let the yarn provide all the entertainment.
The colour changes create long, contrasting stripes, moving through a fabulous mix of shades as you work, while a gentle fluffy halo softens everything and gives the finished fabric extra depth and texture.
And then there’s the yardage…
Each whopping 200g ball contains approximately 670 metres, so this is a brilliant choice for those lovely one-ball projects. A scarf or generous shawl would be an obvious place to start, but there’s plenty of potential for colourful accessories and garments too.
Made from 50% wool, 30% acrylic and 20% polyamide, Creative Wool Tonality combines the warmth and character of wool with practical synthetic fibres, giving you a yarn that’s lovely to knit with but still easy to look after.
It’s designed for 4mm needles, so despite that enormous ball it isn’t a heavy or bulky yarn. Instead, you get lots and lots of meterage for watching those colours gradually unfold.

Fiona says: You know I love a yarn that does the hard work for you, and this is definitely one of those! The long colour changes mean you can keep the actual knitting beautifully straightforward and just enjoy watching the stripes appear. And with 670 metres in one ball, there’s an awful lot of knitting hiding in there. I think this is crying out for a simple scarf or shawl where we can let those fabulous colours be the star of the show.
