About this Yarn
Viking Nordlys is a beautifully colourful self-striping yarn that’s perfect for adding effortless pattern and interest to your knitting. Made from a durable blend of 75% Superwash Wool and 25% Nylon, it’s soft, practical and designed to create stunning multi-coloured stripes as you knit.
Ideal for socks, shawls and accessories, Nordlys lets the colours do all the hard work, producing unique stripes and colour transitions without the need to change yarns. The hard-wearing nylon makes it an excellent choice for socks, while the Superwash wool provides warmth, softness and easy care.
If you’re planning larger garments, Viking Nordlys can also be combined with Viking Baby Ull, as both yarns share the same tension, making it easy to add coordinating cuffs, heels, toes or contrast panels.
As with all self-striping yarns, the width of the stripes will vary depending on your project. Narrower pieces such as socks or sleeves will create broader stripes, while larger projects will produce shorter, more frequent colour changes, making every finished piece beautifully unique.
