The Schafpate-project started in Germany in 2008 and is split into two parts: sheep sponsorship and the wool project. Both parts are closely linked, offering high quality wool through sheep sponsorships, providing many positives for both us and nature.
Viridian and Opal have collaborated to create this range of Schafpate 4 ply sock yarn. Furthermore, Viridian have sponsored 8 of these rare breed sheep from Germany. Schafpate literally means “Sheep Godfather”. Furthermore, Viridian’s owner has named these shades after family members: Kim, Thelma, Sunny, Claire, Kate, Charlie, George and Princess.
