Im rubbish aren’t I, a few newsletters and then nothing for months and months, I endeavor to be better and here’s my starter newsletter to get us back on track.
🧶 IT’S NEARLY HERE! The North Yorkshire Yarn Trail starts NEXT WEEK!
Well… after months of planning, plotting routes, organising maps, talking yarn and generally getting rather over-excited, the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail 2026 starts NEXT SATURDAY!
And this year is an extra special one because we’re celebrating FIVE YEARS of the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail! 🎉
If you’ve never joined us before, where have you been?! The Yarn Trail is your excuse (not that we ever really need one) to get out and explore some fabulous independent yarn and craft shops across beautiful North Yorkshire.
Grab your map, plan a route, gather your yarn-loving friends and make a day — or several days — of it.
Whether you visit two shops or attempt the whole trail, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Just come along, discover somewhere new, squish some yarn and support our brilliant independent shops along the way.

And, as you might expect, we have gone slightly overboard at Yarn Etc.
Actually, who am I kidding? We’ve gone VERY overboard.

Spend £30 at Yarn Etc during the Trail and you’ll get a FREE Lucky Dip from our trug (Limited to 5 lucky dips per day).

Now THESE are a bit ridiculous.
We’ve made up mystery pattern packs containing 10 patterns for just £5.
The patterns have an RRP of around £35 per pack, they’re sealed in brown paper bags so there’s no peeking, and you won’t know what you’ve got until you open yours.
A proper lucky dip and an absolute bargain.

Of course I’ve also used the Yarn Trail as an excuse to make new things. Obviously.
We’ll have some brand-new kits launching during the Trail, including our Myrtle Baby Blanket and Catona Baby Outfit, with hopefully a Toastie Cowl joining them too.
And some of these will then be heading off with us to Yarndale, so Yarn Trail visitors at Yarndale get first dibs!

You don’t have to visit every shop.

And you definitely don’t need an enormous yarn-buying budget.
The whole point of the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail is to explore, have a lovely day out, discover independent shops you may never have visited before and celebrate our fabulous yarny community.
Plan a route. Bring a friend. Make room in the boot.
Actually… perhaps make quite a lot of room in the boot. 😂
We’ll be ready and waiting at Yarn Etc with the kettle on, the shop bursting with yarn, offers galore and what will undoubtedly be two wonderfully chaotic weeks of Yarn Trail fun.
