Crochet & crumbs!

Pies, pancakes, and a Eweneek CAL...
Hello fellow Yarnistas,

This week is British Pie Week - I kid you not - and for a bit of fun, we've created a questionnaire to find out your favourite pie flavour 🥧 Answer the pie survey here!

It's also Pancake Day on Tuesday! So a flippin' great week in our opinion 🤣

Anyway, on to the most exciting news of the week. You may have seen over on our Facebook Page on Saturday evening, that we announced our very first Zoom crochet a long! Scroll down for more details...

I've written lots of new blogs over the past few weeks, so when you get a moment, make yourself a Yorkshire brew, find somewhere comfy to sit and have a look - The Yarn etc. Blog

In the meantime, have a look below at all the cosy loveliness and catch up on new things we have to share with you.

Round up of what's new at Yarns etc...

    London
    Oodles of Doodles Decks!!

Move over Pokémon…. There’s some new cards in town! And they are for us knitters!!! Literally the hottest new thing about in the yarn world right now!!!

Doodle Decks by Pacific Knit Co priced from £20.00 – £27.00

Grab yours here... and read about why they are so much fun in my blog.
    Merino Lace Solid
    Rico Fashion Cotton Merino Lace

This fine yarn is, in my opinion, somewhere between a lace weight and a fine 4ply and I would be tempted to use it as a 4ply for a light and airy summer garment.

Soft, lightly hazed with fluff, subtle colours and beautiful feel and 290 metres per 50g ball this yarn is just gorgeous and goes such a long way.
For new fluffy loveliness click here and to find out more, head to my blog.
    Whirl Cotton
    Scheepjes New 100% Cotton Whirls

We all love a whirl right? Well, Scheepjes have gone one step beyond and have created some new whirls which have removed the acrylic and made the Cotton Whirls with 100% cotton.🙌

215g in weight and a whole whopping 1000 metres, you heard me, a full kilometer of yarn wowsers! Available in store & online now. Read more about them in my blog.
    Chalybeate_New_Yarns
New Colours of Chalybeate ready for Spring into Wool

We have been busy in house dyeing up 8 new colours here at THYC HQ. We have added a lovely range of shades which will work perfectly alone or with each other AND with the Mercer DK so there will be pretty much unlimited choices for colourwork and all those fabulous patterns that use more than one shade.
These yarns will be available in person at Spring into Wool in April but if you are sneaky and want some now they are available on the website now.
Read more about them in my blog here.
    The Gift of Gifting

Did you know that we now do online gift cards – that's right, we do, how exciting is that!

You can purchase online a gift card for either yourself or someone else within the UK and have it delivered to them via email on (or around if you prefer) the date you want the gift delivering. You can even put your own personal message on the gift card too!
Find out more about our Gift Cards in my blog here and get your gifts here...

    Eweneek CAL 2025

    Are you ready?….

Yes!!! It’s our very first Zoom crochet a long!

Starting 26th of March, we will be running a CAL of Janie Crow - the gorgeous Sunshine and Showers Blanket!

It will run for 12 weeks, with exclusive online group and weekly zoom sessions!

The cost of the CAL will be £75… which INCLUDES a voucher for £50 to spend on whatever yarn you would like from either the website or the shop for your CAL ( or whatever you choose!), and it’s valid for a full year from issue!
It’s a crochet a long for those of you that can already crochet, it’s an intermediate level project.

Spaces are limited for this CAL, and we will be launching the booking link this coming week!

Hope you are excited as we are!!! Watch this space…

If you are outside the UK, but still wish to join us, please send us a message here.

Fresh off my needles at the moment are these...

Life's River shawl - you can download the pattern on Ravelry here.

I made it using The Harrogate Yarn Company Mercer DK in Beans Tea Orange, and The Harrogate Yarn Company Chalybeate DK hand dyed teal, semi solid, called Still Waters.

You can find both of these yarns in store and online here:
Monet cowl - pattern by Loop de Loop Studios. Also available on Ravelry and in store.

I made it using Ella Rae Marmel, cotton mix which you can find online here:
Old English for “marble,” this splashy new DK-weight is a cotton/acrylic blend. It provides a rainbow of shiny colour that knits up to a cobblestone or “marbled” effect. Easy care for all types of projects, knitting and crochet.
We are making kits for both of these, for Spring into Wool. The countdown to Spring into Wool has begun! It's the second weekend in April (Sat 12th - Sun 13th April 2025), the weekend before Easter.

Kits will be available for both of the above patterns then. We will also be doing the shawl in The Harrogate Yarn Company alternative colourways if anybody wants something different - in case Orange and Teal is not your thing...personally I think it's gorgeous 🧡

Lastly on my hooks is my version of the Sunshine & Showers CAL. I'm doing mine using the ever popular Scheepjes Stone Washed, Sport range. I'm using all of the 16 brand new colours they have just brought out - read about them here in my blog.
An illustration of a ball of yarn with the end trailing. The trailing end of yarn attaches to a 'S' for the phrase "Save the date!"
There are lots of fabulous Yarn related dates coming up for all you Yarnistas out there. We thought we'd have a "Save the Date" section to share them with you so you can add them to your diaries. Do let us know if we are missing any!
