How are we all? Hasn't it been a strange month of weather! Last time I sent you all an email we had been experiencing extreme heat! I don't know about you, but over the past few weeks I've been wearing some of my winter wardrobe again, especially in the evenings! A far cry from the temperatures on the continent🌡

My top tip this month...

So my top tip for this month is..... drum roll please..... lifelines!!! Have you ever used them? Have you ever heard of them?

This is a great way of preserving your work if you are knitting something complicated like lacework and there is the possibility of making a mistake (or you are a beginner and we know how frustrating it can be to go wrong).

A lifeline is a strand of different coloured fine yarn which you can thread through the row of your knitting that's on the needle and leave it there for safe keeping - click here for an example from Sheep & Stitch.

The aim of the lifeline is that should you make an error in the next few rows you can take the knitting off your needles and then pull it back to the lifeline and then rethread the knitting back on to the needles without losing any stitches or having to undo the whole of your work.

There are tons of YouTube tutorials out there so go have a look and start using them, you will be so glad you did.
The Harrogate Yarn Company

The Harrogate Yarn Company is 1yr old!

Launched in 2022 at the summer wool fest, The Harrogate Yarn Company will be celebrating their 1st birthday at the wool fest again on 29th & 30th July.

Fi created The Harrogate Yarn Company and here is a little snippet of why and how it started.

The idea for having my own yarn spun just for Yarn Etc. came from wanting to be able to supply a lovely, natural, British Yarn that was special to our many local customers and the many visitors from around the country and the rest of the world.
I wanted a yarn that was the essence of Harrogate. Beautiful colours, lovely texture and spin and just lovely to work with. It's a proper yarn that is being very well received by everyone who uses it for their projects and we are very proud of it.

You can buy it from Yarn Etc's store in Harrogate where you can see all the samples and have a good feel and squish of the garments and accessories or you can buy it online here.

Pay it forward

We know and work with so many amazing small businesses, that we decided to have this section to share them with all of you 😊

Continuing the theme of local loves, this month we want to highlight another of our neighbours - the fabulous Yorkshire Cured Meats Shop in Harrogate.
Across the street from Yarn Etc Towers, Yorkshire Cured Meats has a range of delicious cured meats and cheeses, and many more yummy things. When you visit us and get peckish, we recommend popping in to try one of their Breakfast Sandwiches or pick up some tasty treats for later on when you head home to try out the new yarn you just bought 😜
There are lots of fabulous Yarn related dates coming up for all you Yarnistas out there. We thought we'd have a "Save the Date" section to share them with you so you can add them to your diaries. Do let us know if we are missing any!

Another jam-packed edition and lots to get excited about. Good luck with all your summer projects and do pop in the shop if you have any questions or want to squish some yarn! 😁

Speak soon and have fun.
